No matter the reason why you need a new logo—starting a new business, commemorating a special event or milestone, or updating your brand’s image—keep these current logo design trends in mind as you discuss your wishes concerning logo development with Tate Design.
• Attentive to detail
For years, big name brands have made their physical spaces almost identical so patrons will feel comfortable no matter which location they choose to visit. Now companies of all sizes are aiming for brand consistency by customizing their look and messaging, both online and in person, to make a bigger, more cohesive statement. They are incorporating architectural elements into logos to give that sense of “presence” to their digital space. They are paying attention to how the typography they choose to use across all their collateral materials translates into a message (of permanence, relevance, historic significance, etc.) for customers.
• Easy to remember
Although we still see coats of arms—and true heraldic representations are not easy to remember—today’s logos based on coats of arms are being pared down to simpler silhouettes. Monograms are being paired with simple typography for a simple yet sophisticated look. Geometric shapes, which are both memorable and make a strong visual impact, are being used in new ways as the building blocks to tell company stories.
• Fun
Many people respond well to bright colors, humor, and playful images. Match these with a less formal font and layer your colors to add to the sense of fun.
• Less-is-more design
Don’t spell it all out in words. Show a secret message using overlapping or negative spaces in your logo. Use color gradients to suggest before/after doing business with you. Let a clever, deceptively simple image allude to the depths of your mission and passion.
• Responsive
We’ve talked extensively about mobile-friendly, responsive websites and the need to make your content available to people on a wide variety of devices. This is even more true for your logo. It needs to look good in ads and articles (both digital and print); on your business card; on company collateral material and uniforms; on devices like desktop computers, mobile phones, and tablets; on your invoices; on packaging; in your social media networking; and on trade-show giveaways.
Put all of these together and you have a simple, clean, uncluttered logo. Does this sound too daunting? Tate Design is ready to assist you with a new company logo for use on your website, in your Internet marketing or social media marketing.
