Looking for a way to market your business through video? Social media is transforming how businesses and customers interact, and video is an increasingly important medium. Twitter’s Vine is a new video sharing application that has gained significant popularity since being launched in January. This application allows users to share six-second looped videos, and search videos by category and hashtag. Videos can also be posted to Facebook and Twitter through the application. Vine is still a novelty to some users who send fun videos to their friends; however, Vine has become a powerful medium for marketing.
Vine allows businesses to create mini advertisements quickly at no cost. Vine’s brevity appeals to customers, giving potential and current customers snippets of a brand, product or service. Transparency in a company is important to a customer’s trust. Vine can be used to shoot short videos sharing snapshots of employees in the office or a history of the company. Gap did this when they shot a Vine video of how jeans have evolved since they opened in 1969. Another way to market through Vine is to show your company’s products or services. A local coffee shop did this by making a video of their new type of coffee being brewed, then handed it to a smiling customer. Third, audience participation can help to market your business through Vine. For example, Converse asked users to make a “day in the life of a pair of Converse” Vine video with the hashtag “#yourchucks.” The best videos were given prizes from the company.
