Is your company logo still conveying your desired message or do you need an image refresh to reflect your organization’s commitment to the future? Let’s take a look.
Perhaps your company has done well in a particular niche for years. Your logo and brand have reflected your expertise for decades. Then 2020 happened and you had choices to make. Businesses that pivoted to adjust to hard times may have discovered opportunities well beyond the scope of their original business plan. Logos and branding need to be updated accordingly.
A good example of this is Pfizer, the pharmaceutical company we now recognize for their COVID-19 vaccine. Pfizer replaced its pill-shaped logo with an abstract DNA spiral. This reflects a future focused on “breakthrough science,” according to corporation sources.
A refresh may also be appropriate if your organization has experienced a major change in leadership, vision, mission, or target audience recently. An updated logo and messaging let your followers know what to expect from you both now, at the start of your tenure, and into the future.
This was modeled by the Biden White House and their creative team. An updated White House logo, a new website, and consistently professional social media messaging signaled a more hopeful future and a commitment to our democracy.
These aren’t the only entities that can benefit from a new image that reflects a forward-thinking commitment to caring for others. Public schools need to show that they are willing and able to keep pace with the educational alternatives—charter schools, cyber schools, homeschooling, independent co-ops, magnet schools, method-based curriculum like Montessori and Waldorf, parochial schools, private schools, unschooling, and world schooling. Mental health practices, like healthcare services in general, need to be easier to access while conveying a commitment to confidentiality and security. Many have offered tele-visits during the pandemic and may choose to continue this.
Whatever your situation, a new logo, website, and corporate messaging can let your target audience know you care about them. With updates to these elements of branding, you communicate your commitment to offering current solutions now and into the future.
