In 2013, the eloquent and energetic Emerald was awarded color of the year by Pantone, a company considered the authority on color in paint, fabric, and manufacturing. The 2014 color of the year was awarded to the dazzling and innovative Radiant Orchid. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes the color as “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
Pantone predicts the color will be popular among fashion, beauty, and interior design all over the world throughout 2014. The hue has already been spotted in company logos, furniture, and on the red carpet. In February Keurig will be offering one of its mini coffee makers in the eye-catching color.
Radiant Orchid is considered a “modern and surprisingly versatile shade.” Pantone praised the adaptability of the color, saying it can be livened up with yellows and oranges, while complementing blues, turquoise, teal and hunter green. The vibrant color also brightens up neutral shades of gray, beige, and taupe.
