Have you ever found yourself taking screenshots of web pages or images, storing them in your camera roll, only to realize later that you forgot where you found it or why you even were interested? Fortunately, the app Ember can help. It is designed to be a web clipping and digital scrapbook of material. The Ember app can be useful as a stand alone app or across all Mac and iOS devices contacted to iCloud.
The idea of Ember is to declutter your camera roll by taking pictures or screenshots of things you wish to “collect.” These images are then added to your Ember library into collections and synced to all your iCloud devices. The app applies tags to images and builds collections based on the tags and metadata in your library. Ember can also detect whether you are taking screenshots on your iPhone or iPad and sorts them accordingly. The app automatically recognizes color variants between images and allows you to search them using natural language such as “light blue” and “dark green.” You are also able to share images in your collections through Twitter, Facebook, Messages, and Mail.
Ember is a free app for iPhone and iPad and is on the list of Mac App Store Best of 2013. So if you have trouble keeping your images on your devices organized, Ember could be your visual memory.
